Film plastic is not collected curbside in Bellingham but can be brought direct to Northwest Recycling. If you leave your clean film plastics in a bag in your bin we will recycle them for you. Film plastics are all the thin plastics that are used for such things as shrink-wrap, Ziplocs, produce bags, cereal bags, etc. As always, reducing use of these plastics is best when possible. Additionally, as of last year SSC added a few items to the home recycling list. You can now add yogurt type containers as well as clamshell containers to your household recycling. Clamshells are the clear plastic containers with a hinged lid that hold cherry tomatoes or strawberries, for example. They do request that you cut the lids off to help save space.
